Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply Pays Visit to EOCO

A three-member delegation from the Ghana Institute of Procurement and Supply (GIPS) visited the Executive Director, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, and her management team at the EOCO Head Office. The visit was to strengthen bonds between the two (2) institutions and explore avenues for collaboration.

The delegation led by the President of the Institute, Mr. Simon Annan noted that procurement is usually associated with corruption and there is a need to erase that erroneous idea.

According to him, the Institute is determined to streamline the body to better place them as a regulator. He added that the Institute is therefore working on a Bill, which would regulate and sanitize the procurement sector. This, he said would help reduce the workload in the Office. He added that the Institute could also help develop investigators in the area of training on procurement-related issues.

In her response, Executive Director, COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah said that the Office was ready to collaborate and help the Institute to achieve its purpose. She added that the Office could also rely on the Institute in its investigation and prosecution processes.

The Executive Director proposed that the two institutions should sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to give effect to the collaboration. The other members of the GIPS delegation were the Vice President of the Institute, Dr. William Oppong, and a Council member, Dr. Dela Heloo.
